The site I sent was not to explain the problem.
As I suggested, it may be faster to simply download and install the
latest kernel and try a test, than to wait/hope for an explanation.
FWIW, the .VDI's I'm currently using on openSUSE 10.2 were created on
my now deceased W2K machine; the same one which is now running
openSUSE 10.2:
2.6.18.8-0.1-bigsmp
