We are currently discussing whether we are going to do a beta of 1.4 on
Linux and Windows. It contains a LOT of changes. First we want to wait
for some Mac feedback to get an idea how stable 1.4 is and then either
release it on Linux/Windows or do a public beta.
The beta would most likely be available as a .run shell script installer
on Linux, no distro packages.
