Going beta, IMHO, is a wonderful Idea!
This way you guys can get a lot more feedback than with SVN (most
people don't know/want to build from SVN), and a official build is
always better than a home made one.

I would even go beyond that: Offer nightly  builds (.run for Linux and
a installer for Windows), and define a more elaborate beta release
cycle. More intermediary releases means more people will install it,
what means more test beds what yields a better product.

Than again, thats me :)
Innotek might have a different perspective on the matter.

But as Alexey said in another e-mail: "Release Early, Release Often" ;)
