To which speed do you refer? Do you mean that your guest (which guest?)
reports a 10MBit/s NIC? This reported speed is irrelevant but only cosmetic.
VirtualBox emulates an AMD PCNet network card which is detected by the
guest. Such cards don't allow a speed more than 100MBit/s on real hardware
but I can assure you that there is no such limitation of the emulated
NIC. Using a host interface I'm able to transfer at a speed much more
than 100MBit/s.
