[vbox-users] OS X host - network and USB problems

I have installed Virtual Box on my Mac OS X machine and set up Linux  
and Windows XP as guest operating systems, both with VB guest  
additions. Everything works well except I cannot work out how to  
transfer files between the host and the guest operating systems. I  
have followed the instructions for setting up shared folders but  
cannot get them to work with either system, and the Mac host does not  
appear in the network of either guest system. Neither can I see a USB  
memory stick from either guest OS. Anyone solved similar problems and  
able to give me some pointers?

Mac Mini running OS X v. 10.4.11
Virtual Box v. 1.5.51
Ubuntu Linux 2.6
MS Windows XP Home Edition
