I'm beginning to suspect it may not be related to VirtualBox. I created a _larger_ text file on the host O/S (44K versus 37K) and using notepad, it's fast to open and save. I'm currently doing research to see if there's something with shares which is causing Office to drag. Of course any ideas are more than welcomed!
