Chris,

I am using the latest version of virtualbox (2.0.6) and the latest version
of Ubuntu. The only little difficulty was related to the loading of the
additions (Auto does not work, so you have to do it from a terminal
session). Speed not an issue, but my host is windows 2008. In my
experience Vista (your host) is an incredible resource hog, and might be the
cause of your problems.

Hi Mark and all, I personally found Ubuntu guests to be quite slow using
VirtualBox 1.6.6 compared to Windows guests. Now as I'm registered blind I
require speech, which Ubuntu has out of the box, but that shouldn't make a
difference in performance. Will performance to Ubuntu guests improve with
future VirtualBox versions? I find Ubuntu to be pretty slick when I used
VMware, and couldn't even get the boot menu to load when I tried Ubuntu
through Parallels for Windows. This is all on my Vista host. Any thoughts on

this would be greatly appreciated.
