FWIW, this has been my experience with VBox since the 1.6 days. I tried to resolve it here on the list back then but pretty much everybody just gave up and I have just accepted it as a part of life that the sun (NPI) comes up every day and VBox consumes 100% of a CPU core. Right now in fact, as I'm trying to start it up again, it's hanging at the WindowsXP splash screen. This is something that has happened for me also since the 1.6 days. Usually I have to abort the VM, unload the vbox modules and reload them in order to resolve this. So you are not alone. Cheers, b.
