O.k. still battling. I ripped everything out and started over so now I
have:

host: 192.168.1.6 GW 192.168.1.1
guest: 192.168.1.50 GW 192.168.1.1

host can get to the internet
guest can get to the internet

neither can talk to each other.

Let sit (change NOTHING) for 5 minutes

host can talk to guest
guest can not talk to the internet

What kind of whacko stuff is that?
