Sorry,
I was not able to express myself correctly.

I often switch between *native* boot of Windows/Vista and ubuntu/Linux.

Sometimes I need to run both systems, so I installed VirtualBox on
Vista and prepared a .vmdk disk pointing to the actual partition *on
disk*, not to a copy on a file.
No Synchronization required since I am using *the same* filesystem.
I have *no* idea on how to produce a native .vdi disk pointing to an
actual partition and not to a file.
What I would like to do is detect if the *partition* is booted native
(do nothing) or if the exact same partition is booted via VirtualBox
(and then start guest additions).
Can this be done?
