Hey With linux I think it would be quite easy (Even with windows it is possible). I haven't move linux system to VirtualBox , but I have done it between several different hardware computers . So if there isn't custom kernel the only modification needed is to change Xorg.conf (May be not necessary in your case if your computer hasn't installed X subsystem ).
