1b) yes you can run a headless VB.

2) The headless install default to using rdvp, I think the name is. So
you can get hold of it with MS-Windows remote desktop and Solaris
rdesktop.

The coold thing is that the pdf that comes with the installation
describes this in a bit more detail.
