Windows XP SP3 host, Epson CX6900f multifunction printer/scanner/fax, VirtualBox 2.2.0, Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalopes guest w. Guest Additions

I don't understand how to access the Epson printer from Ubuntu. I tried using the Device menu to mount the printer but just got an error message saying that it was unavailable or already in use (obviously, by Windows!). I understand that when the printer is working with the Ubuntu guest it is unavailable to Windows. So how to also detach it (or whatever) from Ubuntu when I want to use it on Windows?

I am doing work which requires me to print from both OSes.

Can anybody with a similar host, guest, and USB printer tell me how they succeeded, please?

Regards,
Hedley

P.S. I have a Wacom USB bitpad and a USB webcam if anyone wants to chime in those as well. 8^)
