windows98 is very enlightening. My advice: don't use it."

A little history may be useful. I bought a laptop in June of 1998, and
got one of the first non-beta Win98 installations. I added Office97.
It served me very well as long as the machine was working -- with one
exception. I was asked to develop an Access2000 database. I wanted to
install Access2000 (and NOTHING else) parallel to Acccess97 (NOT as a
replacement), so that I could do the job and then remove 2000.
However, the installation procedure actually eliminated ALL of my
E-Mail archives!!! I was FURIOUS, and I took on the attitude "Fool me
once, SHAME on you, Billy G; fool me twice, shame on ME." I have
refused to contribute to MacroHard ever since. But I have this ONE
application which is entirely unavailable to Linux. So here I am. I
have a friend who bought several copies of WinXP, mis-located one and
replaced it. If it surfaces (as it did a couple of months ago!), he
will give it to me. So there may be hope for me yet!

Pablo, I have taken the link that you sent in your second message, and I
am pleasantly ASTOUNDED. There are several things in there that may
prove to be exactly what I need. THANK YOU, so VERY much, for such an
excellent point -- it is MUCH appreciated!!!!!
