On an OSX (10.5/Intel) host, I can successfully perform a (nearly
minimal) install of FreeBSD (7.2/i386). But soon after, if I attempt to
use the filesystem much such as unpacking a tarball of the ports system
or attempting to install software or update the system, I get a kernel
panic:
ad0: FAILURE -device detached
/usr: got error 6 while accessing filesystem
panic: softdep_deallocate_dependencies: unrecovered I/O error
It then dumps core and reboots.
I can force it to fail during the installation process if I do a less
minimal install.
VirtualBox 3.0.4 r50677
VT-x,PAE/NX,ACPI,IO-APIC enabled, about 0.5GB (out of 4GB) allocated to
the guest.
