The "normal" way to install the "Guest Addtions" is the "Install Guest
Additions" entry in the Devices menu of your VM. This attaches the
appropriate ISO file to the virtual CD in the guest and starts the
installation.
May I propose some looks at the VirtualBox Manual, before you
experiment with unknown techniques? ;-)
