Until VBox 3.0.6 we did not treat the 3.0.x as stable as VBox 2.2.4. Therefore, people who still run VBox 2.2.4 don't receive update notifications but people running any 3.0.x version get notified when a new 3.0.x version is released. We will change the notificatiton mechanism in the near future to allow the user to choose the policy. And I assume with the next maintenance version we will notify all users.
