Hi folks,

New to this list, so pardon me if this is handled elsewhere.

We're having a hell of a time trying to get Windows 2000 to install under
VirtualBox. The symptom is that the first stage of the install seems-- seems--
to go fine, but the second stage (the one where you are prompted for your CD
key and a few other details) seems to go okay, but then just repeats, over and
over again, when the system restarts. As in, the entire second stage runs,
again and again, ad infinitum.

I've tried the following combinations:

OSX host + VBox3.0.8 + Win2K
OSX host + VBox3.0.8 + Win2KSP2
Linux host + VBox3.0.10_OSE (built locally from source) + Win2K
Linux host + VBox3.0.10_OSE (built locally from source) + Win2KSP2

I've tried these with ACPI enabled and disabled, since I recall that being a
bit of an issue for Win2K.

(We're trying to migrate a legacy system to a VM to buy a little time for a
tech update, in case you're curious.)

I suppose my next step is to install on real hardware, pull the drive, boot the
VM off of SysRescCD, and use gparted, etc., to shove the image onto the virtual
HDD. I expect that should work.

However, has anyone successfully installed Windows 2000 under VirtualBox
recently (past three months or so)? Any tips, tricks, or notes? We'd sure
appreciate some help.

Thanks,
