Seriously - doing this would defeat the whole purpose of
virtualization.
And Drag'n'Drop from Guest to Host would also, but its very useful. I
think running a command on the host could be a good task for the Guest
Additions.
And shared folders "defeat the whole purpose of virtualization."
Shared folders + ssh should suffice for host editing.
I just tried (Mac OS X host):
ssh 10.0.2.2 "open -a TextWrangler /etc/resolv.conf"
Opens the file fine with the editor. (I'm not using shared
folders to test.)
