Oracle VM is XEN based.
 Sun’s xVM is XEN based.
Oracle bought Virtual Iron which is also XEN based.
Wonder where vbox fits into that picture.

Sure, vbox is a type 2 hypervisor.  Looking at Oracle though, what would
they want with a desktop virtualization product.  Unless they are thinking
VDI, which vbox seems to be well suited.

Trust me, I would love for what you say to be true.

It sounds to me like you´re spreading FUD,Geoff. Or trying to make a
business case for Oracle to dropping Virtualbox.

"FUD is generally a strategic attempt to influence public perception by
disseminating negative information designed to undermine the credibility of
their beliefs. An individual firm, for example, might use FUD to invite
unfavorable opinions and speculation about a competitor's product"

"FUD is a manifestation of the appeal to fear."
And you said: "Trust me, I would love for what you say to be true."

Virtualbox under Oracle ownership of Sun makes no difference. In fact, it
adds value to Oracle, which lacked a type 2 hypervisor as you said.

Hi Fernando.

I am not spreading FUD, there is a considerable amount of "uncertainty"
here. Oracle is building a completely integrated stack which includes
applications, middleware, database, storage and hardware. Where does a type
2 hypervisor fit into this plan? I was hoping today there will some insight
into their direction with vbox.

I am surprised this doesn't interest more people on this list.

Geoff
