I have recently started pushing source for packages where we carry modifications for in raspbian to github. The packages are imported into git using dgit.
However I have discovered that this is not possible for all packages. In particular github rejects files over 100 megabytes and the current libreoffice package has a 107 megabyte (upstream) ChangeLog in it.
