This is not surprising, since you do not have an engine around to register with. You should not even install vdsm-reg if you are not operating on an ovirt-node. If you are using Fedora 16, you should use v4.9.2 or at least the rpm that Federico published few days ago. v4.9.0 had a bunch of problems in Fedora.
