I didn't read it that way.  In fact, I'm thrilled that *BOTH* the log4j and
velocity teams were quite willing to make changes and reacted so quickly.

However, I still believe that it is important for released versions of
velocity to work with released versions of log4j.  So my preference when it
is possible is for an orderly deprecation.
