Hi, Further to discussions with Nathan, I've added a page to the wiki here (http://wiki.apache.org/jakarta-velocity/ExtendedDateTool) which outlines a proposed extension to the current DateTool.
The purpose of the extension is to provide additional functionality which permits template designers to express dates in a "friendly format" relative to the current date; e.g. "3 days ago" "tomorrow" "3 hours from now" The code presented on the page includes my initial (very rough) run through at implementing this functionality as well as a (far more elegant) refactored version that Nate produced from it.
