i don't know a whole lot about rss/rdf stuff, but i'm rather sure it's
a text format (not binary).  if so, Velocity should be as useful for
that as for html.   you might just set up a second servlet (perhaps
even a VVS subclass) for that.  (of course, since i know very little
about rss/rdf, i could be way off :)
