Home care - we do gravity on 4 Fr or greater but have found that a 3 Fr or
smaller does not run very well so we use a pump

Honestly, we have pretty good results using gravity for our home care patients.
Most of the PICCs are 4Fr. and our infusion volumes are generally pretty small
(100cc over 30 minutes for many IVAB, 250cc/hr for Vanco). Occasionally we will
need to place a pump in a patient's home, but we don't do it as a general rule.
Of course, any medication that requires very specific infusion rates gets a
pump - but we don't base that on the type of access. I'll be curious to hear
what others' experiences are with this.

Gravity flow does not work with PICC lines at all. Law of physics length and
time

Are all of you mandating that PICC lines have electronic infusion devices (EID)
used with infusions? We currently use a gravity flow blood tubing - our policy
states that all central line administrations must be done on a EID. Also, our
Albumin tubing coming from the blood bank isn't pump tubing.....

How is everyone else doing this?....I know that there is tubing out there to
accommodate EID with blood transfusions...how about Albumin?
