I appreciate everyone's responses to my queries, but as
these questions are not related to Site Rite batteries I changed the subject
line!! My responses are below in bold:

Can everyone who is placing PIcc lines please let me know if they:
1. What was the required education that you received before placing PICC lines? I went to an eight hour class in 2002 and then trained with the nurse who was already working in my facility. We now use an online course for any new nurses we may be fortunate enough to hire and then they train with us. We were extremely fortunate to hire a temp PICC nurse for 8 weeks while our last nurse was in training!!
2. Do you suture your PICC lines? No, we only use Statlocks.
3. What Ultrasound machine do you use? Currently we have 2 Site Rite 3s (for 3 nurses). We are hoping to get a Site Rite 5 by next year.
4. What PICC lines do you use? Do you do a TIME OUT? We use Bard Power PICCs and Per Q Caths. Yes, we do a TIME OUT to use 2 patient identifiers. We are even incorporating in into our new insertion sheet as a check off box.
5. Do you place your Patient PICC lines at bedside or in suite/room? Do you have an assistant? We only place at the bedside. We try to work in pairs as much as possible but it just depends on the schedule for the day.
6.. Who confirms tip placement? For now, the radiologist. We are looking at getting checked off to look at our own xrays sometime between January and March. We just got the Navigator a month ago and it has made a huge difference!! I love the fact that I can leave the room knowing the line is in the right area. I am almost afraid to do another line without it!!
Thank you for answering

Quick question...To those of you using Site Rite, what do you do with your batteries that no longer function (i.e. will not hold a charge long enough to complete a procedure)? I have tried to re-program the memory but they still won't work. Luckily we just ordered 2 new ones. I called Dymax and they said just to throw them out. It just seems a little odd to "just throw them out". They cost $230 a piece!!
