We are changing to prefilled saline syringes that are clearly labeled by the
manufacturer.  Our pharmacy is working with a vendor for sterile pre-printed
labels for lidocaine 1% (as well as others that will be needed for other
departments).
This seems to be least time-consuming solution and least costly for the PICC
nurses to be in compliance with this JCAHO national patient safety goal.
