I am so glad you said "written" consents. I have heard of some risk managers that are now saying that PICC insertion fails under the general consent signed when the patient entered the hospital. I have never worked in a hospital where this was the case though and would feel better about obtaining a written consent for a PICC or any other CVC insertion. Are they doing the same thing with the other CVCs inserted by physicians? If not, I would have to ask why the difference? Lynn
