I have heard from our hospital that there has
been an increase in DVT here also, but I haven't seen it in my patients. I
don't have any numbers and haven't spoken with anyone directly about this for
details. I just know what I see in mine. The hospital uses the
Boston Sic PASV (Red placed) and the Bard PerQCath (RN
placed)

I am tracking them and trying to analyze the findings. Over the past 5 years our
DVT rate has been around 2%. We place about 1900 lines per year. I don't find
that extremely elevated.The Doc' thought it had to do with using the Bard power
PICC . I do not see that, I am looking at the DX. meds,tip placement and age and
sex of each patient with a DVT. Has any one else seen any increase in DVT
with the dual lumen power PICC?
