I have never seen any recommendations about this, but I would never
use a butterfly for any chemotherapy. There is too great a risk of
infiltration/extravasation. The only time I would use a butterfly
would be to draw a blood sample. I might consider a butterfly for a
one-time dose of a non-vesicant only if I were giving it by direct
push and would remain with the patient during the entire dose
delivery. Lynn
