Question for the group.
If this is a repeat I am sorry. My e-mail program is on the fritz and keeps
shutting down.
The question.
How many times would you re-insert a PICC line in a confused elderly resident
that has already pulled out five PICC's in a period of a week and a half? He
is
a retired Locksmith who thinks his PICC lines are locks that need to be fixed.
My concern is obvious that he finally cuts one or breaks one of these PICC's.
The Infectious Disease Doctor who said try one more time before going with my
suggestion along with a consultation from a pharmacist for a switch to PO Zyvox
has changed his mind and is and is demanding the PICC be replaced.
What in your wisdom would be your suggestion?
>From a liability standpoint I feel compelled to refuse to replace the line. I
am a contractor and have the right to refuse placement. What if any
suggestions
or comments do all of you have.
Thanks You in advance for any comments or suggestions.
