Chylothorax is where lymph fluid leaks into the thoracic area or subq area or from the puncture site. This is most often seen with left sided insertions because of the large thoracic duct joins the subclavian vein on the left but it can occur in other places also. The fluid is a yellowish color. All: What is the name of the complications of an inadvertent puncture of the lymph vessel (usually in the subclavian area) with a central line placement?

Thanks

I promise to send these MRI compatible manufactures tomorrow. It's been

Can the stylet wire be sheared if the catheter is clamped while the wire
is being pulled out?

I can not even imagine how a stylet wire could be sheared. Lynn

Sorry about the terminology. Yes it was the stylet that sheared.
The wire was retrieved without incident, and apparently was approx.
8" in length.
So back to the original question, has anyone else had that experience?
Pam
