We place a bright pink or green sticker on the tubing that states 'for
epidural or intrathecal use only' and our tubing also has a yellow
stripe. We also mark our pumps.

Subject: Epidural vs IV solution marking question

A question for the list--does your institution use any special way of
marking epidural solutions to distinguish them readily from IVPB's?
Currently our Pharmacy puts a neon pink sticker on the epidurals that
says
"CAUTION EPIDURAL" but that, tragically, was not sufficient to prevent an
administration error. Any ideas?
Thanks.
David
