Title: Re: clot
What caused the cephalic thrombosis? Does the same risk factors apply to the PICC?
If the anticoagulant therapy is preventing the cephalic clot from getting larger and this is being monitored, I would leave the PICC. But if this clot is extending up the vein, there is a chance that it can reach the axillary vein where the PICC passes through. Lynn

If a patient has a superficial clot in the right cephalic vein,  from AC space to upper arm, and has a PICC in the basilic vein in the same arm, would there be any real reason to remove this PICC if anti-coagulant therapy treatment has been initiated, and the basilic vein is in good condition?  The PICC has only been in for a few days, and I hate to remove it if I do not have to.  He was not easy to PICC in the first place.  Thanks for any and all info.
