I just had a question from one of our clinical educators along these lines, it 
was:
  In general, "should we still apply cold for infiltrates and heat for 
phlebitis".
Is there literature supporting the choice?

Definitely cold due to the hyperosmolarity of this fluid. Also 
possible use of hyaluronidase injected subq, especially if severe.
