Hi coolfactor,

The license file is indeed bound to the computer it is stored on.
Without this limitation, making an infinite amount illegal copies of
Versions would be as simple as copying a "License" file, so this is
not something we will change in the foreseeable future.

Now for a solution to the problem at hand:

1. Quit Versions
2. Create a 'Versions2" folder in the "/Library/Application Support"
folder.
3. Drag the "License" file from the Versions folder to the Versions2
folder.
4. Open a Terminal.app window and type the following two commands:

cd /Library/Application\ Support/Versions
ln -s ../Versions2/License ./License

You now have the actual License file stored outside of the "Versions"
folder, but thanks to the symlink Versions can still find it and will
run normally.

If you repeat this process on every computer, you can sync the
"Versions" folder with Dropbox, the file that's different on each
machine now resides in the Versions2 folder.

Whenever you register a computer again, Versions will replace the
symlink in the "Versions" folder with an actual License file, so
you'll need to move it to the "Versions2" folder and create the
symlink again.

For clarity's sake: It is allowed under the terms of the EULA to
register multiple computers, but we cannot make the actual "License"
file, the proof to Versions that your machine was registered, generic.

We'll be looking into proper bookmark syncing ourselves some time
soon, so we can make the entire experience more seemless. :)

Cheers,
- Dirk
the Versions team
