It would be nice if Versions gave a better indication of what progress
was going on.

A good example is TortoiseSVN on Windows... during an update/commit, a
list of files being acted on is displayed along with the total bytes
transferred in real-time.  So if a file is taking particularly long,
you can at least see that network activity is happening and know to
leave it alone.

Granted, Versions has the transcript that shows you some of this, but
usually only after the fact.
