Dirk, I'm on 10.6. I think I'm getting used to the buttons, though. And as Quinn mentioned, it is easy enough to tell what view you're in by the content of the window. I think my initial freakout was more that the unselected buttons almost looked disabled...
On a side note, it seems like everyone has a slightly different idea of what the #1 most important feature request is. For me it might be non-modal updating.
