I don't believe they are defunct, strictly speaking. However, I do seem to recall that Facebook purchased Sofa (the development company behind Versions) about 3 months ago. I would be stunned if that purchase did not considerably reduce the developers' commitment to supporting Versions and the other software developed, or at least owned, by Sofa. After all, Facebook certainly did not buy the company so that the talent in it could continue doing what they were doing before.
