Rick, scroll down............btw.....there are some pics of the IFTS here...... http://www.kodakgallery.com/misakoishimura You'll have to find the right "Album" when you get there.............scroll down.......... Date: Fri, 28 Aug 2009 17:43:06 -0600 Rick, i've been to that show every year since 1992.........(back then it was in the Meadowlands (where the N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Jets football teams and the New Jersey Net basketball team play.......of course in a much smaller side-venue).....it is a great show. It moved to Somerset in '93 i believe it was, maybe '94. I've tyed at the show for the last 11 years in a row. Usually out in the entrance hallway with the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild, but also on the inside with the big name guys. There's always a couple to a few guys doin' bass bugs and the like.....so it's not just for Trout, Salmon, Steelhead and saltwater. You'll find guys doin' Pike flies.....streamers, wets, dries, Classic Wets & Salmon flies and any and everything you can think of there. If you've never gone.....it's as good a PURE tying show as there is. Although.....in the last few years it HAS become somewhat boring in terms of "nothin' new." It's always the same guys year after year after year after year after year after year.........and that is a bit of a bore in terms of seeing something new...........it's become HIGHLY predictable. In fact it's BEEN highly predictable for a LONG time. One year they featured guys doin' Realistics and that was kinna cool.......but they REALLY need to expand the show.........it is just SOOOOO predicatable........maybe because i've been so many times. This will be our frist year not to go.......and i'm kinna bummed.....but hey, we gotta try and save somewhere. So we're skippin' Danbury, Conn and Somerset, N.J. This past Jan. was our first time to ever miss the "Fly Fishing Show" also in Somerset. The Jan. show is the biggest fly fishing show in the world.......the IFTS is in Nov. and both the Jan. and the Nov. shows are promoted by the same person........Chuck Firimshy. If you get the chance and because you've never been...........GO! "This annual event is one of the premeir gatherings of the best fly tiers in the world. Whether you tie flies to catch trout, salmon or saltwater species, there is always plenty to see and learn at this great show." Quote form the Autumn 2009 "Fly Tyer" magazine Since I do mostly warmwater fly fishing, this event dows not seem to be for me. Very glad that SowBug is happy to have warmwater tiers there. I know that I am venting on this list, but things like this hit me wrong. Back under my rock. I did try to log on to flytyer.com and it would not accept me. Rick HotmailĀ® is up to 70% faster.
