Good to hear that Tony. I want you to hang on as long as you can, I think that if anyone qualifies as the heart a soul of this list, it would be you.
I have been lurking for several months, then I had email password problems, and when I finally got them fixed, I ended up with 1600 posts from the VFB! Not a problem, just a reflection of how long I was off! Buried in those messages was one that appeared to come from you with the word "quit" in it, but I couldn't find any followup. I spent a lot of my summer trying to get my new (used) boat to run, and when it did it didn't take long to realize that spinning and bait casting gear work a lot better when several people are fishing together on a boat, so I ended up spending a lot of time figuring out how to be a "gear" fishermen. Two people who are both fly fishermen can fly fish from the boat with care, but when it comes down to it, a fly rod is best made for rivers or kick boats... places where you want to carefully and accurately search small areas of water. I did get on the old Weber with my fly rod in the fall, to enjoy a bit of the amazing fishing that always happens after irrigation flows are cut. Like last year, it was a fish every cast. Now winter has set in, and I am recovering from surgery to fix the plumbing problems created by my prostatectomy last year. This surgery was a cake walk compared to the last, and I am actually enjoying a little break from work, I might even try to head out to the river during the Thanksgiving Holiday. I'm pretty sure I will be retiring at the end of this school year, and one of my goals is to make it down to Arkansas, so hang on!!
