After the 1st of the year, when things settle down, who is interested in the
Second VFB Rope-Dub Contest/Swap?

Since I did it the 1st time around, I could meister it, appoint a judge or
panel, select the winners, who would win
a 14/0 Fantasy Fly (rear-view mirror hanger), and second place again would be a
mouse.

I thought it was a great DVD, in spite of the viewJ You have my other
comments.

I tried the alpaca two ways; tying in the tips & tying in the middle of the
bunch. Tying in the middle was more difficult, but made for a thicker dub. Not
necessarily a valid adaptation of the technique.

Haven't used other materials yet, 'cause I've been busy & need to redo the
flies for the swap. Looking forward to using other materials.

I like the results much better than doing it the way I was, getting more
consistent results & better segmenting.

Well, just about everyone who ordered DVDs should have them by now (two in
route), and most have had at least a week to view and try out the techniques-
either for the 1st time, improvement , or extension of the technique.

Would like to get some comments:

a.. Your thoughts on the DVD and ease of transition into tying-
b.. Your first tries at rope-dubbing-
    c.. Your re-tries (re-ties) at rope-dubbing and the extensions-
d.. Your overall opinion of the results you're getting: ease of
adaptation, speed, dubbing results, fun, etc.
If you're having a problem, go ahead and bring it out. Don't be shy. I
spent an entire afternoon at a fly-show with a 25 year veteran professional
tier/guide coaching him on getting a perfect rope-dubbed dry fly body. His
problem- doing it so long one way made him want to do it the same way.
