"The Clouser raises some eyebrows, probably because it calls for the weight, er
eyes, to be placed on top of the hook shank, making the fly appear very much
like a jig, but - and this is is the crucial detail - the hook eye does not
come out of the top of the weight. Fly-fishing publications generally have the
good taste to photograph Clousers with the hook point down (avoiding any hint
of the j-word) even though we all know what happens when the fly hits the
water."
