Same thread: I have asked the VFB on a previously occasion about ants and spiders and wasps and hornets and bees. I know that fish will feed on them, because you can find their remains in the fish when you pump its stomach or clean it. (I always open the stomach of a fish I am cleaning.) But it seems to me that some of them will get a bite or sting into the fish before it dies. Does the stomach of a fish have nerve endings? Don't they feel it? If they do, you would think that they would avoid all of them......

I've done research and some believe some fish are turned off to ants because of the high levels of formic acid. Others say the acid in a fish's stomach is stronger and breaks the formic acid down. I know all about them fire ants. It was a secondary reason my dad moved to Wyoming (leading our move). He was very allergic to fire ant bites- would go into shock.
