Jimmy, TonyMy plans for my 15' Gruman Sports Canoe are half-way there. I bought the canoe double-outrigger above from Cabelas, and it easily dismantles for general canoeing. The casting platform will have a leaning post and a line-minder on the front of the platform. With a 3-pont stance on the platform, and a stable boat, which is wide for a canoe (3'), it'll be plenty stable. I can stand and fish now, but I still have to mind what I'm doing. With the platform and outriggers, I'll be able to concentrate on fishing.
My wife don't know it yet, but she gets the paddling duties. The seats will be swivel folding, cushioned boat seats, so may back will have it easy.

I used a canoe a few times, when I was younger and had better balance. I'dnever get used to a kayak. I did have a cute little pontoon boat that I usedfor a while, but it was much like fishing from a boat. Finally sold it to VFB member Jack Lehman. Jack loves it.Have you thought about putting at least one "outrigger" on the canoe you'rebuilding? If so, you could stand up when need be. Just a thought.
