This morning the upper level of the clinic/hospital parking lot had a few hundred clones of the one Chuck found on his lampshade. Several were still moving, but most had died during the night. La Crosse, WI is kind on famous for large mayfly hatches. There have been some instances where the snowplows were brought out of hibernation to clean up the bridges. Several years ago a new resident parked his convertible under a street lamp with the top down. In the morning he had about 10 inches of mayfly bodies in his car. They smell like fish. I don't know what he did to salvage his car. Last night's hatch was a minor one.
