Folks: My colonoscopy and upper endoscopy was done today and It went great. And
everybody I talked to are correct. The "prep" is a thousand times worse than
the procedures. That's cause I slept through them. He found mild gastritis in
my stomach, but said my esophagus looked great, and my 31 year old hiatal
hernia surgery was holding up great. On the bottom of things, first off, he
told my wife " he must have, unlike most ppl, choked down that WHOLE prep
solution as he had the cleanest colon I have ever seen in 25 years of doing
these. Got that right, I was afraid to lay down LOL.. Anyway, he found two tiny
polyps in my colon, went to cut and/o burn them, and said they just fell off,
which he says is a good thing. They did send them off for a pathology report of
course, but he's 99.9% sure they are both benign. They put me on a new anti
acid called Dexilant to try to seal with the gastritis in my stomach, which he
things can be causing the pain. If not, he said he'd do a contrast X-ray of my
small intestine to double check for adhesions from my five abdominal surgeries.
Thanks again too all for the thoughts and prayers. And BTW. I can now say that
ANYBODY here, 50 yrs old, or older,(40 or younger if you have a family history
of colo/rectal cancer) have a Colonoscopy for peace of mind if nothing else.
It is the second leading cancer caused death among Men AND women in this
country, second only to lung cancer, with 150,000 “preventable” deaths per yr.
Preventable in that, benignpolypls, caught while still benign, will stop cancer
from forming in them. Do it for your loved ones if not for yourselves. I said
the prep is/was “hell” but not NEARLY as bad as surgery, chemo, radiation etc
would have been had I waited till those two turned cancerous.Chuck
