Yesterday, two new mega malls were announced to be built about 25 km from where I live. Big box stores Walmart and Rona were announced as anchor tenants for Tsawwassen Commons, while Bass Pro Shops was announced as the anchor tenant for Tsawwassen Mills. So it appears that we will have a Bass Pro Shops store in a province that has very little in the way of bass, as this is the northern limit for bass in BC. I fear that this will undermine the few fly shops that endured during the recent world recession. The other concern is that the land for these two malls is owned by First Nations and is currently used by migratory birds that will be displaced. I certainly don't like the new Canada!
