Jerry: Thanks. I'll try sharpening these. I have 22 magnums, .38's, 44', 50
caliber's from Don O's tin can plinker LOL. and some .410 shotgun shells.

Subject: Re: [VFB] Foam Popper head punch set needed???
Chuck:
As I mentioned earlier, I got my punches from Harry Steeves several years
ago. They are really heavy duty, industrial type punches, ranging from 1/8
to 3/4 inch diameter. Not sure if Harry had them made specifically for him
to sell. There's no brand anywhere on them. You might want to check some
of the on-line catalogs that sell industrial or professional type tools.
These were certainly designed to cut something heavier than foam. I use the
brass more often than not. I've got 9mm, .357, .38-40, .44-40 and .45 Colt,
plus I sacrificed some shot-gun shells to get to the brass. .410, 16 ga, 20
ga and 12 ga. Just like a knife they need to be sharpened. Just do a
couple of file strokes around the inside of the casing and you should be
cutting right through the foam without a problem.

I am looking for a set like the one shown in the photo on this page below.
But. This guy mentioned putting sections of brass tubing that has been
sharpened with a grinder and/or dremel tool, and drilling them out. I have a
1/2” chuck sized drill press, and with a wooden backing, I bet the drilling
would be MUCH cleaner than the punching with a hammer.. Right???? Or like I
said, if anybody has a better idea, I’m be grateful. Thanks again, Chuck

Subject: [VFB] Foam Popper head punch set needed???
Can anybody tell me where to buy a good set of Foam Popper head punches?? I
have been using brass spent gun cartridge shells, but even using a wooden
backing, they dull pretty quickly. Or, does anybody have a stainless steel
(or whatever they are made of) cpl of these that you’d sell me?? I need them
in, say a 1/4”, 3/8”, or 7/16” diameter. or 8,9, and 10 mm would be just
as good. Thanks, Chuck
ORRRRRR!!!! Can somebody tell me if I’m doing something wrong that is
dulling the brass shells after about 8-10 popper heads to the point that
they start just “tearing” the foam, instead of punching it cleanly????
